Coronation Best and Worst

Once again we return from an SCA event with much to unpack, sort and put away including the memories of the day. So, here is my list of best and worst for the weekend.

WORST:

Having my schedule changed to teach on Friday making getting off to go early impossible.

Long lines for greasy food at Zaxby's.

Hitting the ground running when you get to site. Looking for some privacy in a crowd.

Sleep deprivation. (our room had a common wall to the entry to troll and the door slammed too easily apparently).

People (particularly Peers) who think their pavilion is the only thing on the field. Boy we needed Kevin!

It sure is windy in Windmasters.

Seeing my friends all too briefly to really relax into conversation. Sorry, Eadan, Jake, Gen, Theo, Padraiga, Emma, Francesca.

Pearl popping coronets!

Time changes.

BEST

Having a husband that makes it easy when your schedule gets changed.

Loving folks in Windmasters who provided us with privacy, a bathroom and best of all, the best mattresses on site.

Time with Lisa to enjoy each other before the day began. Having the honor of knowing how much she wants to make people happy and knowing she has the right stuff to make it happen.

Sinclair Hawkins, the other Royal retainers and Nikulai who did such a nice job providing a pavilion and seating for the Queen's Repast.

The creativity, calm and problemsolving of Ceridwen, Cuan, Padraiga, Ragnarr and Kyneburh. What a team. "well, if we do this pavilion first, skip two slots, borrow theirs and pull another pavilion out of the air, LOOK: they all fit and look fabu!

Weight Watchers and Duchess Seonid for the sparkle in a friend's eye cause she knew she looked GOOOD!

Having the honor of looking at one court and being so proud of and happy for your friends' hard work and then being able to do the same with the next court too.

Watching Cuan's challenge before HM took up the throne. I wouldn't have gone for the glove.... Great theater except you knew he meant it in his heart. Lucky Padraiga to have found our Cuan; lucky Cuan to have found our Padraiga.

Great friends like Eldred and Ealdryth who make set up easy! Really cool servants of the Kingdom who cannot just come to a Repast in their honor but need to serve as well (thanks Rhiannon). Falling in love with a man who one day will be a cooking Laurel and can make your ideas a beautiful reality.

Stealing moments with friends in the afternoon. Each moment sweet because they are too few.

Swearing fealty with your husband....it means so much more to me. Thank you again Anton and Emer for his recognition. Looking into the eyes of the Queen and feeling able to offer Fealty and Homage.

Court fun with BdeB, Nia, Kimmy, Nikulai and Emma. Fun with Food!

Knowing in your heart during a ceremony that it is the right thing.

Short Pel meetings!

Dinner with friends. Genovian pear juggling. Car-rides to places on site.

Friends you can be real with all weekend long. Lots of them. What a blessing.

Naps on the car-ride home!
