Road Runner

Well, I am home.

I am going in a bit late as I will work til 1100pm coordinating mock codes (cardiac arrest training).

12th Night was very nice. The site was well appointed and the staff so dedicated and really excited about hosting the kingdom.

The Crown and Heirs were just a dream to work with. John and I had the pleasure of coordinating for Johanna's Pelican. We have known her since we were Freshman back in 1978 (yeah, I know that was a LONG time ago). She introduced us; we introduced her to the SCA. As great as the organization is...I got the best part of that interchange!

Anyway, we had a lot of fantastic help with the vigil...Elizabeth and Findlach were the picture of cooperation (and period furniture!), Gen and Alan provided her privacy, Ranulf and Caitlyn brought furniture, assistance and the German voice of the Crown. Roland brought light. Tirloch and John food with a German touch. Brenna provided a vigil garment, Alesandrea-a vigil book as did Nia, Nikulai and Girard provided a thick German chain for her medalion and Hrothny-a phenomenal linen towel. Mistress Susanna provided me with so much assistance on getting the German points correct, including making the gollar (embroidered by her daughter).

Our commissions were amazing...the Lucia Bellini scroll was perfect (and so beautifully framed!) and the Blackwood medalion was gorgeous.

Thank you all for helping us get it right.

Course, there is no preparing for large teenage feet and broken noses but we were able to regroup that evening in the hall. She was thrilled and is still bemused by the gracious reception into the Atlantian peerage.

I am renewed by the generosity and caring that went into a vigil so far from our home.

Thank you all.

The rest of 12th Night was a blur of smiles and laughter, Seneschal "moments of your time," and the rare "In my world this cannot be happening."

12th Night was a road running weekend...

Irmo, SC to Manassas, VA 488 miles
Manassas, VA to Richmond 110 miles
Richmond, VA to Oak Hill 119 miles and back 119
Richmond, VA to Irmo, SC 374 miles

Time with friends? Priceless.

But now, I am home and need to finish this up so I can get started on a long work day.

Love to all.
