Pretty frequently my job morphs from staff education to special projects R&D...lately it has been a lot of that.

The problem is that most projects with any true significant impact involve a tremendous number of departments in a hospital. So to have movement toward process improvement it takes not just research and creativity but tremendous outputs of energy to achieve broad buy-in.

Sometimes it is less a morass of red-tape than just corporate molasses.
